Restoration of an Oak finger block parquet floor in Market Rasen Lincolnshire
Restoration of an Oak finger block parquet floor in Market Rasen Lincolnshire.
This Oak parquet floor was originally laid in the 1950s when the property was first built, the floor was in need of some TLC and this is the first time it would been sanded and re finished, since it was first done.
As you can see the parquet floor is looking worn, it did not look to bad for its age until we started floor sanding, with our dust free floor sanding equipment.
With each pass the oak parquet started to clean up, we sanded the floor many times working up the grades of abrasives and then floor polishing to a finish, you can see the difference in the photos below.
We carried out some remedial repairs on the floor fixing down some lose parquet blocks and checking around the floor for any more damage or lose parquet blocks, once we were happy we then applied a hardwax oil to the oak parquet blocks.
The hardwax oil brings out the grain in the oak and gives the floor more definition, the hardwax oil also nourishes the oak blocks, and is easy to clean and maintain.
Needless to say our clients were very happy with the out come.
We make the cleaning and maintenance of our hardwax floors easy, as we supply a FREE cleaning and maintenance kit with every completed floor sanding job. (one kit per address)
